HOW LONG ITEMS MAY STAY

The Act sets a limit of 6 years for a debt or collection. The exact section and its exceptions are in the Act. Section 10(3)(c).

YOUR RIGHT TO QUESTION A LINE

Nova Scotia does not give the agency a number of days. The law says it must act right away. It must also tell anyone it gave a report about you to in the last 60 days. Section 13(1)-(2).

Nothing here is legal advice. Where a card shows a quote, it is the government's own text, with the date we read it. Where it says “Quoted section coming”, we are still checking the exact section. The card gives the rule in plain words and links the official page. Accurate information stays on your report; we help you question what is wrong or out of date.

STRAIGHT TALK

What we never do.

The rules are the same for everyone. Knowing them is the whole point.

  • We never remove accurate information. Nobody can.
  • We never promise a score change, an approval or a removal.
  • Nothing leaves without your say. You read, you approve.
  • We never show you a number and call it your credit score.

Questions people in Nova Scotia ask.

Do you remove things from my report?

No. Nobody can remove accurate information. We help you find what is wrong or out of date and draft the letter you send yourself.

Which law applies in Nova Scotia?

Consumer Reporting Act (RSNS 1989, c. 93). We show the section that applies to each item and link to the official page so you can read it.

Do I get a credit score?

No. We do not make up a score, and we never call a number of ours your credit score.

Is this in French?

Yes. Every Nova Scotia page and letter is available in English and French.
